MSc Kinesiology Student Successfully Defends Thesis!

Congratulations to MSc Kin student, Alanna Shwed on successfully defending her thesis on July 30th, 2020.

Alanna’s presentation was titled, “Is Sport No Longer Enough? The Impact of Food Rewards on Children’s Motivation to Participate in Sport.”

Alanna’s dedication and commitment to research is evident as she plans to begin her PhD at the University of British Columbia – Okanagan!

On Tuesday, March 10th 2020, Dr. Colin McLaren facilitated a discussion for the MSc Kin Graduate seminar titled, “Using Social Network Analysis to Better Understand Group Processes in Sport.” Dr. McLaren discussed the impact of athlete interactions in sport and the influence on team dynamics and athletes’ perceptions.

On Friday, November 29th, special guest Dr. Heather Gainforth spoke to Nipissing University’s MSc Kin students on her experience with Research with Impact: Advancing the Science and Practice of Knowledge Translation.

Dr. Gainforth challenged our students to identify areas where they use KT in their research and how those practices can be applied in the real world.
